Chile’s agricultural exports: Fruits from Chile continue to lead the market
Chile is one of the leaders in agricultural exports, closing 2024 with a record year for the sector, especially for Chilean fruits.
Thanks to its diversified climate, strong export infrastructure, and high crop quality, the country reached a total of $13.028 billion in agricultural exports in 2024, a 15.6% increase compared to 2023.
Which agricultural products does Chile export the most?
When analyzing Chile’s agricultural exports, fruits stand at the center of the country’s global success. In 2024, exports of fruits from Chile totaled $7.53 billion, up 28.6% year over year.
The top fresh produce exported were cherries, grapes, apples, and blueberries, valued at $3.513B, $1.336B, $594M, and $471M, respectively.
The following table summarizes the main fresh produce exported by Chile:
1. Cherries
Cherries remain the flagship product of Chilean agricultural exports, reaching a record $3.51 billion in 2024, a 44% growth compared to the previous year.
China dominates demand, receiving more than 90% of shipments. The United States follows with roughly 4%, while the remaining destinations account for about 1%.
2. Grapes
Chilean grapes were the second-largest export product, totaling $1.34 billion, a 45.1% increase from 2023.
The United States is the primary destination, receiving 73% of shipments (worth $698M), followed by China (5%), the United Kingdom (4%), and Canada (3%).
A key driver of growth is the ongoing varietal replacement, with new varieties representing nearly 67% of total exports in the 2023/2024 season. This has strengthened the competitiveness of Chilean grapes against Peru and South Africa.
At the same time, U.S. market trends show a growing dependence on imported grapes, causing that for the first time grape imports surpassed national production in 2024.

3. Apples
Chilean apples remain the most exported fruit by volume, with 551,280 metric tons worth $594 million, reflecting a 15.9% increase compared to 2023.
Chile maintains a particularly diversified market portfolio. Brazil leads with 20% of shipments, followed by Colombia (14%), Ecuador (8%), and a group of countries including Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, India, and Peru (each with 5%). The U.S. represents only 4.5% of exports.
The Gala variety is the most significant, accounting for more than 43% of all Chilean apple exports, but Chile exports numerous varieties, from Granny Smith to Fuji.
4. Blueberries
Chilean blueberries performed strongly in 2024, with exports reaching $471 million, an 18.7% growth over 2023.
The United States was the main destination with 45% of the volume, followed by the Netherlands (22%), Germany (8%), the United Kingdom (7%), China (5%), and South Korea (5%).
Chile’s main competitive advantage lies in its off-season production window, allowing the country to supply fresh blueberries to the Northern Hemisphere during winter, when global availability is low.
